Hey budding artists ?
Every year, artists around the world challenge themselves to draw one inked creation a day for the whole month of October: that’s Inktober. If you’ve ever felt stuck, wanted to get better at drawing, or just want something fun to push your creativity — this is for you.
Here’s how Inktober 2025 can help you grow as an artist — and how to make the most of it.
“Inktober” isn’t just about creating art daily; it’s also about learning powerful techniques that improve your skills. Their *How to Ink* series offers tutorials — starting from beginner levels, then gradually building up — so everyone can come in, no matter how much they’ve drawn.
For example:
– Beginner-to-intermediate courses that introduce tools & techniques.
– More advanced specialty topics like brush pen work.
– Printable PDFs to practice with — drawings you can trace or ink over.
So you don’t have to “be great already” to start. Inktober gives you the resources to gain confidence, precision, and style.
| Step | What to do |
| Warm up first | Before October starts, try inking a few simple things — lines, shapes, small drawings — to loosen up. |
| Gather materials | Pens, inks, paper — what you have is okay. But try varying tools (pen size, ink type, brush pens) to see what effect they give. |
| Use the tutorials | The Inktober How to Ink tutorials are made to build up gradually. Follow them. Learn basics well (e.g., understanding line weight, contrast, inking clean edges). |
| Set goals | Maybe you want to improve shading, or reduce sketchy lines, or color in digitally afterward. A goal focuses your daily work. |
| Share and get feedback | Show your work — in class, on social media, with friends. You’ll see what’s working and what to adjust. |
| Stay consistent, but kind to yourself | Some days will be harder. That’s normal. Keep going even if a drawing doesn’t turn out perfect. Over time, you’ll see big growth. |
To make things exciting, I’m proposing a little class challenge for Inktober 2025:
– Every student does at least 20 of the 31 prompts in October
– We’ll have weekly check-ins: show 4–5 works, see improvement & share tips
– At the end, we’ll have a showcase of top 5 works (your choice, your style) to display in class or online
If you join me in this challenge, you will be surprised how much you grow in a month.
Inktober isn’t just for famous artists or pros. It’s for you — the person who wants to draw better, have fun, explore new tools, and see your style emerge.
By using the How to Ink tutorials + committing to the daily prompt challenge, you’ll not only improve your technical skills but also gain confidence, discipline, and creative vision.
Let’s make Inktober 2025 the best one yet — one ink stroke at a time. Are you in?
